River was studying in the grand library when the heavy, impenetrable darkness swallowed the mansion. The backup generators failed to engage, indicating a highly coordinated external override. She didn't panic or scream for the guards.
Inheriting a terrifyingly cold composure, River calmly pulled a sleek, military-grade encrypted tablet from her massive mahogany desk. She bypassed the compromised mainframe, accessing the isolated, analog security feeds hidden throughout the building.
Nolan marched into the library, his lead security director resting easily beside him. His face was a mask of absolute, unyielding stone. They operated as a flawless, highly lethal unit.
"It's not a physical assault, River," Nolan reported, his fingers flying across the glowing screen with blinding speed. "Julian Laurent hijacked the central servers. He is demanding you sign over your company for pennies, or he will leak our proprietary data."
