Chapter 5 - The Hostile Takeover

"Mr. Sterling, please," Dennis panicked, rushing forward and throwing his hands up in a desperate, cowardly gesture. "My daughter was just leaving! She didn't mean to offend Delaney! Please don't let this ruin my buyout deal!"
Nolan slowly turned his lethal gaze toward Dennis. The sheer, unfiltered disgust on the billionaire's face was completely paralyzing.
"You would sell your own daughter's dignity for a check," Nolan stated clinically, his voice devoid of all human mercy. "You don't deserve a business. And you certainly don't deserve her."
Dennis physically recoiled, all the color draining from his face as the wealthy crowd watched him get publicly, brutally humiliated.
Nolan turned his attention back to the trembling girl in the red dress. He dialed a single number on his smartphone and put it on speaker, holding it up so the entire dead-silent ballroom could hear the dial tone.
The call was answered immediately by a panicked, breathless older man. It was Delaney’s father.
"Nolan! Sir! I'm so sorry I'm not in the ballroom," Delaney's father rushed to say over the speakerphone, completely desperate to please the billionaire. "I'm in my office printing the final permits for the harbor development project. I need your signature to secure the funding tonight!"
Delaney’s face turned completely white. Her father's massive, multi-million-dollar real estate empire was entirely dependent on Nolan’s investment capital.
"I'm not signing the permits, Richard," Nolan announced flawlessly, completely commanding the room.
"What?! Nolan, why?!" the man shrieked through the phone.

"Because your daughter just publicly assaulted a woman in my presence," Nolan replied coldly. "I am pulling all of my capital. And I am officially executing a hostile takeover of your entire firm. You are completely bankrupt as of this exact second."
👉 Delaney let out a horrific scream, completely unaware that Nolan was about to ruin her life even further.
