Chapter 4 - The Billionaire's Wrath

The absolute, paralyzing silence in the ballroom was deafening.
Not a single guest dared to move a muscle. The wealthy elites instantly lowered their smartphones, terrified of catching the wrath of the billionaire titan.
An extreme close-up captured Nolan’s face. He completely, aggressively ignored the wealthy guests. He didn't look at Dennis. He didn't look at the arrogant girl in the red dress. His intense, piercing, and lethal gaze locked entirely onto River.
He walked with slow, heavy, deliberate steps across the polished marble floor.
When he reached the center of the room, he didn't say a single word. Nolan fluidly, flawlessly slipped his tailored dark navy suit jacket off his broad shoulders. With incredible gentleness, he wrapped the heavy, warm fabric securely around River’s trembling shoulders, completely covering her torn dress and shielding her exposed skin from the cameras.
River looked up at him, her breath catching in her throat as she stared into his dark, furious eyes. She had never met this man in her life.
Delaney’s cruel, triumphant smirk completely vanished. She physically staggered backward, her red sequined gown swishing against the floor as pure, unadulterated panic washed over her face. She recognized Nolan immediately.
"Nolan... Mr. Sterling," Delaney stammered pathetically, desperately trying to plaster on a high-society smile. "It was just a joke! We were just having a little fun! She's nobody!"
Nolan didn't look at her. He kept his eyes locked on River, ensuring she was completely covered.
"She is absolutely everything," Nolan whispered softly to River.
