Chapter 1 - The Tears on the Gold Chair

The high-end luxury restaurant was an enclave of absolute perfection. Glowing crystal chandeliers cast warm light over large white floral arrangements, elegant dining tables, and a breathtaking nighttime view of the city bridge through floor-to-ceiling windows.
But the atmosphere in the center of the room was completely shattered.
Eleanor, a seventy-year-old elegant woman with grey hair styled in a flawless updo, sat on a plush gold chair. She wore a dark blue dress and a classic pearl necklace, but her dignified appearance was ruined by her bitter, agonizing tears.
Kneeling directly on the hardwood floor next to her was Lucy, a twenty-year-old waitress with brown hair tied in a messy bun. Lucy wore a black long-sleeve uniform shirt, her own eyes red and crying as she tightly held Eleanor’s trembling hands. Standing right behind them, looking entirely helpless and nervous, was the restaurant manager.
"Please," Eleanor wept, her voice cracking with a desperate, terrified tone as she clung to the waitress. "Don't leave me alone."
Suddenly, the heavy glass doors of the restaurant swung open.
A tall man in his late thirties strode through the dining room with a fierce, commanding presence. Julian wore an all-black suit jacket, a black vest, and a black shirt, his sharp beard and dark hair framing a face of pure stone. Massive, heavily armed bodyguards trailed slightly behind him, parting the wealthy patrons like the Red Sea.
Julian stepped up to his mother. His lethal expression instantly shifted to deep, agonizing concern as he looked down at her distress.
