Chapter 3 - The VIP Trap

"It started an hour ago, sir," Lucy whispered, her hands still wrapped protectively around Eleanor's fingers.

To understand the absolute terror Eleanor had experienced, Julian needed to know who brought her there. Julian had been out of the city on a major corporate acquisition. His fiancée, Chloe, had offered to take Eleanor out for a "bonding" dinner at the city's most exclusive restaurant.

Chloe was a wealthy, arrogant socialite who absolutely despised Eleanor. Eleanor controlled the multi-billion-dollar family trust, and she had wisely refused to give Chloe full access to the accounts before the wedding.

Chloe had planned this dinner meticulously.

When they arrived, Chloe intentionally led Eleanor through the chaotic rear service entrance instead of the valet. She offered to take Eleanor’s purse, her cell phone, and her warm coat to the cloakroom.

"Just wait right here in the lobby, dear," Chloe had smiled wickedly. "I'll be right back."

But Chloe never came back. She walked straight into the private, soundproof VIP dining room where her own friends were waiting, entirely abandoning the seventy-year-old matriarch in the bustling, confusing lobby without a single form of identification or a penny to her name.

Eleanor had waited patiently for thirty minutes. When her heart began to palpitate from the stress, she wandered into the main dining room, politely asking the staff if they had seen her future daughter-in-law.

👉 Chloe had set the perfect trap, but the instructions she secretly gave the manager were pure, unadulterated evil.
