Chapter 10 - The Ultimate Reward

The chaotic, violent energy completely evaporated from the elegant dining room.
Julian walked back over to the plush gold chair. The terrifying billionaire completely vanished, violently replaced by a gentle, devoted son. He dropped to his knees right on the hardwood floor, wrapping his massive arms around his mother, burying his face in her shoulder.
"I am so sorry I left you with her, Ma," Julian whispered, his voice incredibly raw and broken. "She will never, ever come near you again."
Eleanor hugged him back, tears of profound relief and peace finally spilling down her cheeks. "I'm okay, Julian. I'm okay now."
Julian slowly stood up. He turned to Lucy, who was standing nervously nearby, expecting to be reprimanded for breaking the glasses.
Julian looked at the brave, fierce young woman who had risked her entire livelihood to protect a stranger in the dark.
"You stood between my mother and a monster," Julian said softly, his eyes filled with profound, overwhelming respect. "I don't care that you were fired. Because I am buying this entire restaurant group tomorrow morning."
Lucy gasped, covering her mouth with her hands.
"The management position is currently vacant," Julian smiled warmly. "It belongs to you now, Lucy. I am tripling your salary, and I am personally paying off whatever debts you or your family owe. You are under the permanent protection of the Vance family."

Lucy wept with pure, unadulterated joy, hugging Eleanor tightly as the older woman smiled brightly. The dark shadows of cruelty were permanently erased, replaced by an empire built on loyalty and absolute justice.
If you were Julian, would you have handed the forged documents to the police, or was completely bankrupting her family the ultimate, perfect revenge?
