Chapter 3 - The Refusal

A medium shot captured Vanessa crossing her arms over her sharp black suit. Her perfectly painted lips curled into a cold, terrifyingly arrogant smile.
"Don't make this difficult," Vanessa threatened, her voice dropping to a freezing, lethal frequency. "You are completely out of your depth here. If you don't pick up this child and walk out that door right now, I will personally have my security team drag you out into the rain."
To understand the absolute, unhinged cruelty of this manager, one had to look at how Vanessa ran her restaurant. She didn't own the multi-million-dollar establishment. She was just the general manager. But for the last two years, she had run the place like a ruthless dictator, actively rejecting working-class customers, completely ignoring reservations she didn't deem "wealthy enough," and pocketing massive cash bribes from VIPs to bump regular people off the waiting list.
She thought Daniel was just another broke, pathetic construction worker she could easily bully to make room for a billionaire client waiting in the lobby.
A close-up captured Daniel. The rugged father didn't scream. He didn't beg for mercy. His quietness was infinitely more terrifying.
"You have no idea," Daniel whispered smoothly.

He calmly reached into the pocket of his worn dark jacket. He didn't pull out a cheap, cracked smartphone. He pulled out a sleek, incredibly heavy, encrypted satellite phone—the exact kind of device exclusively used by apex corporate predators and federal authorities.
👉 Vanessa laughed dismissively, entirely ready to call her security team to execute the public eviction.
