Chapter 5 - The Threat

Adam, realizing his wife was escalating the situation into a public disaster, grabbed Vanessa’s arm, but it was too late. The damage was done.
He turned back to Sofia, his desperation morphing into aggressive bullying. He slammed his hand onto the mahogany desk.
"Listen to me very carefully," Adam threatened the young manager, his voice low and vicious. "My last name is Whitmore. Do you know how much money our family pours into this city? If you don't override this freeze and seat my wife's family in the terrace room right now, I will personally ensure you are fired by tomorrow morning. Run the forged document."
Sofia’s eyes widened slightly, but before she could respond, the heavy brass doors of the back office opened.
Stepping hurriedly into the main dining room was Mr. Rossi, the distinguished, silver-haired General Manager of Bellavita. He wore a flawless tuxedo and carried an aura of absolute authority. He had been alerted to the disturbance at the front desk.
Adam immediately puffed out his chest, stepping forward to greet the man.
"Mr. Rossi, thank God," Adam said, forcing a confident, arrogant smile. "Your hostess is being incredibly difficult. I need you to bypass her and open the terrace room immediately. My mother is having one of her confused episodes and needs to be escorted out to a taxi."
The General Manager didn't shake Adam’s extended hand. He didn't even look at him.

Mr. Rossi bypassed the arrogant son entirely. He walked directly up to Margaret, brought his heels together, and bowed his head in a display of profound, undeniable deference.
👉 Adam and Vanessa watched in stunned silence as the General Manager revealed exactly who they had just insulted.
