Chapter 6 - The True Owner

"Mrs. Whitmore," Mr. Rossi said, his voice carrying the utmost respect, loud enough for the entire lobby to hear. "I apologize deeply for the delay. Are you being disturbed?"
Adam’s hand dropped to his side. His confident smile completely evaporated, replaced by a look of profound, sickening confusion.
Vanessa stepped forward, her face flushed with anger. "Excuse me? Why are you bowing to her? She's just a lonely old widow! We are the ones hosting the VIP reception!"
Mr. Rossi finally turned his cold, uncompromising gaze toward Vanessa and Adam. The cinematic realism of his disgust was palpable.
"You are hosting nothing, madam," the General Manager stated firmly. "This establishment does not recognize your name. It recognizes hers."
Adam swallowed hard, a cold sweat breaking out on the back of his neck. "What are you talking about? My father left her a trust fund, he didn't leave her this restaurant."
Margaret quietly stepped forward. She reached up with a calm, manicured hand and gently touched the beautiful pearl brooch pinned to her tailored navy suit.
"Your father didn't leave me a trust fund, Adam," Margaret said, her voice completely calm but carrying the heavy, lethal weight of an executioner's axe. "He left me the controlling shares of the Whitmore Hospitality Group. The Founder’s Reserve account doesn't just mean I get a free meal. It means I own the building you are currently standing in."
