Chapter 1 - The Stolen Memory

The grand luxury event hall was a breathtaking display of incredible, untouchable political wealth. The sprawling room featured pristine white marble floors that reflected the warm, brilliant light of massive, multi-tiered crystal chandeliers. Heavy, vibrant American flags were draped elegantly in the background, and the room was packed with hundreds of elite, powerful guests in highly expensive formal wear, mingling and laughing softly over crystal glasses of vintage champagne.

But entirely isolated from the joy of the room was a tiny, heartbroken eight-year-old girl.

Lily stood near the edge of the polished marble dance floor, completely ignoring the elegant party. She wore a beautiful light blue dress with short sleeves, and her long, wavy brown hair fell softly over her shoulders. She was looking down at the floor, her innocent face completely filled with a profound, quiet, and deeply agonizing emotional sorrow.

Resting carefully against her chest was a heavy, tarnished silver necklace featuring a beautifully detailed eagle emblem.

Suddenly, a harsh, incredibly aggressive hand grabbed the delicate chain of her necklace, yanking it painfully against her neck.

Standing over her was her new stepfather, Arthur. He was a wealthy man in his late thirties with short, perfectly styled dark hair, wearing an expensive, tailored black tuxedo with a crisp black bowtie. His face was twisted into a mask of pure, unfiltered, arrogant disgust as he glared down at the little girl, actively trying to rip the silver necklace right off her body in front of the wealthy guests.

"Take this cheap, embarrassing piece of trash off right now," Arthur hissed, his voice dripping with venomous cruelty. "Your real father was a pathetic coward, and I will not let you wear his garbage at my gala."
