Chapter 5 - The Parasite's Panic

Sebastian froze, sweating profusely under the crystal chandeliers. His massive billionaire empire was violently collapsing into dust right in front of the beautiful Chicago skyline.

"And you, Victoria," Elizabeth continued, turning her cold, piercing gaze to the woman in the red silk gown. "Did you really think he loved you?"

Victoria crossed her arms, trying desperately to maintain her arrogant, high-society mask. "He loves me! He was going to divorce you in a year and give me half the money from the merger!"

Elizabeth laughed—a dark, humorless, cinematic sound that echoed through the room.

"He wasn't going to give you a single dime," Elizabeth stated flawlessly. "I read his private, encrypted emails. He was using your personal bank accounts to launder the embezzled funds. As soon as the federal authorities started investigating, he was going to frame you for the entire massive corporate fraud. You were his disposable fall guy."

Victoria’s jaw dropped. The blood entirely left her flawless face. She spun around, staring at Sebastian in absolute, paralyzing horror.

"Is that true?!" Victoria shrieked like a feral banshee. "You were going to send me to federal prison?!"

"Victoria, shut up!" Sebastian panicked, completely cornered like a rat in a trap. "She's lying to tear us apart! I can fix this!"

"I don't have to lie," Elizabeth replied quietly. "The digital proof is right here."

Elizabeth didn't keep the USB drive. She calmly handed it to one of the angry, red-faced investors standing in the front row of the audience.
