Chapter 3 - The Broken Locks

To understand the absolute, unhinged arrogance of Claire’s behavior, one had to look at the massive, highly orchestrated lie she and her family had constructed over the past year.

Claire’s family was completely bankrupt, drowning in millions of dollars of hidden corporate debt. She had targeted Daniel entirely for his wealth, desperately rushing the wedding to secure access to the massive Vance family fortune before her family’s creditors seized their assets.

Two hours ago, while Evelyn was attending the wedding ceremony, Claire had secretly handed her parents the spare access codes to Evelyn’s sprawling, ten-million-dollar Beverly Hills estate.

Her parents had driven two moving trucks directly through the wrought-iron gates. They were actively moving their cheap furniture into the master bedroom, completely intending to squat in the mansion and use Daniel’s money to fight any legal eviction. Claire believed that once she had the marriage certificate signed, she would legally own half of everything Daniel possessed, including his mother's home.

But Claire was wrong.

Claire snatched her cell phone off the head table. Her hands shook violently as she read the frantic text message from her mother.

“Claire! The police are here! They are dragging your father out in handcuffs! They said we don't have the deed! Do something!”

Claire felt the air violently rush out of her lungs. Her beautiful white lace dress suddenly felt like a suffocating straightjacket.

She looked up at Evelyn, pure panic replacing her arrogant sneer. "What did you do?!" Claire shrieked loudly, completely abandoning her elegant bride persona.

👉 Evelyn slowly stood up from her gold chair, preparing to legally execute the woman who had tried to steal her empire.
