Chapter 4 - The Iron Trust

"I didn't do anything, Claire," Evelyn replied smoothly, standing tall in her navy blue lace dress. "The LAPD is simply responding to a silent security alarm triggered by unauthorized trespassers at my private residence."
"Daniel owns half that house!" Claire wailed hysterically, desperately grabbing her new husband’s tuxedo jacket. "Tell her, Daniel! Tell her we have a right to move my family in!"
Daniel stammered, entirely paralyzed by the explosive confrontation. "Mom, I gave Claire the access codes. She’s my wife now. What’s mine is hers."
Evelyn let out a small, chillingly calculated laugh that echoed off the crystal chandeliers.
"Daniel, you absolute fool," Evelyn whispered, staring at her son with profound disappointment. "You don't own that house. You don't own a single brick of it."
Claire froze. "What?"
"The Beverly Hills estate, the corporate stock, and the offshore accounts are entirely owned by the Vance Master Trust," Evelyn explained clinically, her voice echoing perfectly across the silent ballroom. "You didn't marry a billionaire, Claire. You married a man with a strict, conditional allowance. An allowance that I completely control."
Claire physically staggered backward. The cinematic realism of the crushing betrayal hit her like a freight train. She had spent a year manipulating Daniel, enduring his boring personality, specifically for a fortune that didn't even legally belong to him.

👉 Evelyn reached into her designer clutch, ready to pull out the document that would completely destroy their fake reality.
