Chapter 1 - The Innocent Accusation

The luxurious living room was filled with warm chandelier light, colorful balloons, and the cheerful hum of conversation. It was Amber’s thirty-second birthday, and she looked flawlessly beautiful in an elegant evening dress, smiling confidently among her wealthy family and colleagues.
Standing near the food-covered coffee table was her husband, David, a handsome, thirty-eight-year-old man who looked completely relaxed and happy. Beside him stood their five-year-old son, Noah. Noah was adorable, innocent, and entirely oblivious to the adult world around him.
A few feet away stood Richard, Amber’s wealthy, forty-five-year-old boss, holding a crystal glass of whiskey and charming the guests.
Suddenly, Noah turned toward Richard. The little boy’s innocent eyes widened with genuine, excited recognition. He pointed a small finger directly at the sophisticated businessman.
“DADDY!” Noah yelled loudly, his voice cutting through the elegant music. “THAT’S THE MAN WITH THE CATERPILLARS!”
The surrounding conversations stopped immediately. A heavy, uncomfortable silence dropped over the living room.
Richard froze completely. The glass of whiskey halted halfway to his mouth, his knuckles turning white as he nearly dropped it onto the expensive rug.
Amber turned sharply toward her son. Her confident, radiant smile instantly vanished, and all the color drained violently from her fair skin.
