Chapter 2 - The Bedroom Secret

Noah looked innocently between his father, his pale mother, and her terrified boss. He didn't understand why the room was so quiet. He just wanted to explain.

“The ones he takes out when Mommy—” Noah began, his tone entirely natural and matter-of-fact.

Amber panicked. She immediately dropped to her knees beside Noah, her movements frantic but desperately trying to appear controlled. She placed a trembling hand on his small shoulder, forcing a tight, nervous smile that didn't reach her terrified eyes.

“Noah, that’s enough,” Amber hissed in a tense, breathless whisper, trying to shut him up without causing a scene.

But Noah didn't like being interrupted. He shifted slightly away from his mother’s grip. He looked directly up into David’s confused eyes, raising his little arm to point toward the grand staircase leading to the second floor.

His innocent voice dropped to a soft, echoing volume that every single guest heard.

“But Daddy... they’re still in her bedroom.”

Amber completely froze. She stopped breathing.

Richard’s sophisticated expression violently collapsed into sheer, unadulterated fear. The birthday guests remained entirely silent, staring at the floor, the walls, anywhere but at the married couple.

David didn't look at Richard. He didn't look at the guests. He slowly turned his head to look down at his beautiful wife. The gentle confusion on his face slowly morphed into a cold, terrifying suspicion.

👉 Amber tried to laugh off the accusation, but David’s mind was already racing toward the master bedroom.
