Chapter 5 - The Chief's Panic

Victor stopped breathing. The air in his lungs violently turned to absolute ice.

He realized his entire, highly calculated assassination plot had just been completely annihilated by a twenty-something single mother in a cheap blue uniform. He had been paid five million dollars by a rival cartel to slowly poison Marco and make it look like a natural heart attack, ensuring a smooth, bloodless transition of power.

"It's a setup!" Victor shrieked like a feral coward, completely dropping his disciplined facade. He pointed his heavy handgun directly at Elena. "She planted it! The clinic worker is working for the cartel! Shoot her!"

The other guards hesitated, entirely confused by the chaotic situation. They looked from Victor, to the poison patch, and then to Marco.

Marco didn't panic. He violently ripped the tailored suit jacket completely off his body, tossing it onto the marble floor.

The toxic fabric separated from his skin, instantly stopping the flow of the poison. The powerful, terrifying mafia boss took a deep, shuddering breath, the lethal apex predator fully awakening as the oxygen returned to his lungs.

He looked at Victor with pure, demonic, calculating wrath.
