Chapter 10 - The Real Husband

Six months later, the luxurious penthouse suite was no longer a cold, sterile environment. It was a bright, beautiful, heavily protected home.
Reed completely transformed. He didn't hide in his dark office or work until midnight. He walked through the highly polished marble hallways completely healthy, strong, and deeply, wildly in love. He transitioned massive portions of his corporate empire into a medical research foundation, ensuring the experimental treatment that saved his life was available to anyone who needed it.
They stood together on the massive private balcony, looking out over the glittering city skyline.
Lucia leaned against his chest, wearing a beautiful, simple dress. Reed wrapped his strong arms securely around her waist, resting his chin gently on the top of her head. He wasn't a cold, terrifying predator anymore. He was a fiercely devoted, loving protector.
He didn't need a contract to keep her. He had earned her heart in the absolute darkest, most terrifying moments of his life.
They had survived the absolute worst diagnosis imaginable, defeated the terminal monster trying to destroy their future, and emerged completely, undeniably victorious.
