Chapter 5 - The Hidden Truth

Lucia physically stopped breathing. The air in the dark office suddenly felt incredibly thin.
She slowly opened the heavy leather cover. The first page didn't contain her old architectural blueprints. It was a massive, highly detailed, beautifully drawn charcoal portrait of her own face, smiling brightly in a coffee shop. In the bottom corner, dated five years ago, was Reed's unmistakable, aggressive handwriting.
The girl by the window. I don't know her name, but I can't look away.
Lucia’s hands shook violently as she flipped the page. There was another portrait of her, walking across the university campus in the rain. Then another. And another. Dozens of meticulously, beautifully drawn sketches of her from a distance, spanning an entire year before they ever officially met.

But why didn't he ever approach her? Why force her into a cold, terrifying contract marriage instead of just asking her on a date?

Lucia frantically flipped to the very back of the sketchbook. Tucked inside the final page was a folded, crumpled medical document. She carefully unfolded the heavy paper, her eyes scanning the bold, clinical text at the top of the page.
👉 Lucia read the diagnosis, realizing the cold monster she feared was actually a fiercely protective titan.
