Chapter 9 - The Miracle Surgery

For three grueling, terrifying months, the grand luxury penthouse became a fortress of absolute, unwavering hope.

Lucia used the massive wealth Reed had given her to fund an emergency, highly experimental targeted radiation therapy that wasn't even available to the general public yet. She sat by his bed every single day, holding his hand, completely refusing to accept his terminal fate.

The cold, ruthless corporate titan completely vanished. In his place was a profoundly grateful, deeply in love man who finally realized he had something worth fighting for.

On a bright, clear Tuesday morning, the heavy doors of the surgical ward swung open.

The lead neurosurgeon walked out, peeling off his surgical cap. He looked at Lucia, who was trembling violently in the waiting room.

"The tumor is gone," the surgeon announced flawlessly, completely stunning the entire medical team. "The experimental therapy shrank it enough for us to completely remove the mass. He is going to live, Mrs. Sterling."

Lucia let out an apocalyptic sob of pure, unadulterated joy, dropping to her knees on the hospital floor as the crushing, suffocating nightmare was finally, permanently over.
