Chapter 10 - The Loyalty Rewarded

The luxury penthouse was finally quiet, the heavy tension evaporating into the bright morning sunlight.

Damian adjusted his black shirt, forcing the terrifying mafia boss back into the shadows of his mind. He walked over to where Alina and Sophia were sitting on the floor.

He didn't stand over them. The most feared man in the city slowly dropped to his knees, bringing himself completely down to the little girl's eye level.

"You are the bravest girl I have ever met, Sophia," Damian said softly, a genuine, warm smile touching his rugged face. He reached out and gently patted her shoulder. "You saved my life."

Alina looked down, tears of relief filling her eyes. "I'm so sorry for the mess, sir."

"You have nothing to apologize for, Alina," Damian replied, his voice filled with absolute, unbreakable gratitude. He looked the young mother directly in the eyes. "You and your daughter are no longer staff in this house. You are under my personal protection. Your daughter's education is fully paid for, and you will never have to fear for your safety again. That is my vow."

Sophia smiled, wrapping her tiny arms around Damian’s neck in an innocent, fearless hug. The mafia boss closed his eyes, hugging the child back, knowing that the greatest loyalty didn't come from men with guns, but from the innocent truth of a brave little girl.

If you were Damian, would you have handed the traitor over to the police, or was syndicate justice the only way to ensure he paid for his crimes?
