Chapter 3 - The Silent Assassin

Damian didn't dismiss the little girl. In his world, survival depended on noticing the microscopic details that everyone else ignored.
He slowly raised his palm, bringing the pill directly into the harsh, bright beam of sunlight cutting through the penthouse window. He stared at the small white tablet. His natural breathing ceased entirely.
His medication was a specialized, perfectly smooth, chalky white capsule. The pill currently resting in his hand was slightly glossy, with a microscopic, barely noticeable score line down the center. To the untrained eye, it was identical. To a six-year-old who stared at the tray every single morning while her mother cleaned, it was wrong.
It was a lethal dose of synthetic cyanide, designed to mimic a massive heart attack.
A silent assassination attempt.
Damian’s eyes darkened to pitch black. The cinematic realism of his realization was terrifying. His jaw locked so tightly the muscles ticked beneath his light stubble. Someone inside his impenetrable fortress was actively trying to murder him.
He slowly closed his fist, violently crushing the poisoned pill into fine white dust.
He glared out the massive window at the sprawling city skyline, his mind racing through the list of his enemies. But the true threat wasn't outside. It was breathing the same air as him.

"Lock the doors," Damian ordered, his voice dropping to a lethal, demonic whisper. "Nobody leaves."
👉 The penthouse was instantly sealed, and the true traitor was about to make a desperate, fatal mistake.
