Chapter 5 - The Executioner's Play

"No! That's a lie!" Alina sobbed frantically, dropping to her knees on the expensive rug. She pulled Sophia tightly against her chest, tears streaming down her terrified face. "Mr. Cross, I swear to God! I would never hurt you! I just clean the rooms! Please!"
Marcus didn't let her finish. Feigning the role of the fiercely loyal protector, he aggressively unholstered his heavy black pistol and aimed it directly at the kneeling mother.
"You treacherous rat," Marcus spat, his finger hovering over the trigger. "You come into his house and try to kill him? I'll execute you right now."
The tension in the room snapped like a tightwire.
"Put the gun down, Marcus."
Damian’s voice didn't echo. It was a deadly, quiet command that carried the absolute weight of an apex predator. He didn't even look at the weapon aimed at his maid. He just stared at his tall security guard, his dark eyes analyzing every single micro-expression on Marcus’s sweating face.
Marcus hesitated, keeping the gun trained on Alina. "Boss, she's a cartel plant. We have to eliminate the threat before she tries anything else."

"I said," Damian stepped forward, his chest tattoos flexing under his unbuttoned shirt, "put it down. She doesn't have the nerve to poison me. And she certainly wouldn't bring her daughter into the room to watch me die."
👉 Marcus realized his frame-up was failing, but the six-year-old girl was about to drop the ultimate bombshell.
