Chapter 7 - The Confrontation

"Jason," Sterling stammered, physically staggering backward as the former deputy marched directly toward him. "What are you doing here? You were banished from this city!"
"I'm not a cop anymore, Richard," Jason stated smoothly, his deep voice carrying a freezing, lethal frequency that completely paralyzed the entire restaurant. "Which means I don't have to follow your corrupt protocols."
Jason aggressively grabbed the Mayor by the lapels of his expensive charcoal suit, forcefully shoving the powerful politician backward until his spine slammed hard against the mahogany wall. The wealthy donors in the VIP room gasped in absolute horror.
"You told me I let a child drown!" Jason roared, his terrifying, demonic fury echoing perfectly across the room. "You made me hate myself for seven years to cover up your own drunken hit-and-run!"
"You're insane!" Sterling shrieked wildly, desperately thrashing against Jason’s crushing grip. "Security! Get this psychotic vagrant off of me! He's delusional! The mother and child died years ago!"
"No, they didn't, Richard," a cold, smooth voice echoed from the tables.
