Chapter 1 - The Miracle in the Sunroom

The luxurious American high-society mansion was usually suffocatingly quiet, but today, the grand sunroom felt electric. Bright natural sunlight poured through the massive floor-to-ceiling windows, illuminating the elegant floral arrangements and the highly polished marble floors.
Suddenly, the sharp scrape of heavy metal sliding against marble shattered the silence.
Clara, a woman in her early thirties wearing a simple pink dress with a crisp white maid apron and a white collar, dropped her silver polishing cloth. Her brown hair, tied up in a messy bun, whipped around as her eyes widened in absolute shock.
Seven-year-old Sophia was pushing herself out of her black wheelchair.
The little girl, wearing a light blue floral dress and white sneakers, was strapped into heavy, incredibly restrictive medical leg braces. For two agonizing years, she hadn't been able to feel her own feet. But right now, with her long brown hair and light blue bow catching the sunlight, Sophia was actually putting weight on her legs.
She wobbled, her small knees buckling under the unfamiliar pressure.
Clara’s heart hammered against her ribs. The quiet, submissive maid disguise instantly vanished. She lunged forward with her arms wide open, sliding across the smooth marble floor just in time to catch the little girl before she collapsed.
"Sophia, you're doing it!" Clara cried out, her voice urgent, breathless, and intensely emotional.
