Chapter 4 - The Poisoned Protocol

Enzo slowly turned his head. His dark eyes locked onto the panicking nurse in the white and blue uniform.

The overwhelming shock on the mafia boss’s face instantly transformed. The vulnerable, breathless father vanished. In his place stood a cold, lethal predator. His jaw clenched so tightly the muscles visibly ticked beneath his stubble.

"Supposed to be?" Enzo repeated, his voice dropping into a dark, terrifyingly quiet register.

Claire stumbled backward, her rubber-soled shoes squeaking against the polished marble. "I... I mean... medically speaking! The charts said it was impossible! This maid doesn't know what she's talking about! She's just a cleaner!"

Clara stood up, gently lowering Sophia back into the black wheelchair and engaging the safety locks. She smoothed down her pink dress and white apron, her brown eyes locking onto the corrupt nurse with fierce disgust.

"She hasn't been paralyzed, Enzo," Clara stated clearly, dropping the formal 'Mr. Moretti'. "She’s been heavily drugged. For two years, Claire has been administering a high-dose synthetic muscle relaxant, disguising it as her daily vitamin supplements. It kept Sophia's muscles completely flaccid, simulating permanent paralysis."

Claire shrieked, pointing a shaking finger at Clara. "Liar! You insane bitch! Mr. Moretti, call your guards! Throw this maid out!"

But Enzo didn't call his guards. He didn't look at the nurse. He took a slow, heavy step forward, closing the distance between himself and Clara. His dark eyes scanned her face, her confident posture, and her flawless use of complex medical terminology.

👉 Enzo realized his entire household was a lie, and he was about to interrogate the woman in the pink dress.
