Chapter 3 - The Fatal Diagnosis

Clara didn't shrink back in fear of the mafia boss. She knelt firmly on the marble floor, gently holding Sophia's fragile arms to support the little girl’s weight.
Her quiet, submissive servant persona was completely gone. Her sharp professional medical instincts entirely overrode her disguise. She looked up at the towering man in the navy blue suit, her realistic facial micro-expressions radiating pure, undeniable authority.
"Her diagnosis was wrong, Mr. Moretti," Clara said, her voice firm, steady, and vibrating with absolute confidence. "Her spinal cord was bruised, not severed. She was never supposed to be in this chair for life."
The words hit Enzo like a physical blow to the chest. If the diagnosis was wrong, it meant his daughter had spent two years in a black wheelchair for absolutely no reason.
Suddenly, a sharp, panicked gasp echoed from the corner of the sunroom.
Standing near the elegant floral arrangements was Claire, Sophia’s highly-paid private nurse. The woman in her thirties, wearing a crisp white medical uniform with blue trim, looked like she was about to vomit.
The color completely drained from Claire’s face. Her hands shook violently as she stared at the little girl standing on the marble floor.
"She... she was supposed to be permanently paralyzed!" Nurse Claire stammered, her voice cracking with sheer, unfiltered fear.

The room fell dead silent. The nurse hadn't spoken like a medical professional relieved by a miracle. She had spoken like a criminal whose darkest secret had just been violently exposed to the light.
👉 The nurse had just accidentally confessed, and the mafia boss's shock was about to morph into absolute, lethal rage.
