Chapter 10 - The Doctor's Choice

Clara looked down at Sophia. The little girl in the light blue floral dress was eagerly swinging her heavy medical braces back and forth, the muscles finally reawakening after years of chemical suppression.
"I want to finish her physical therapy," Clara said, her eyes filled with warm, maternal affection. "She's going to need a real doctor for the next six months to regain full mobility. And I don't trust anyone else to do it."
Enzo’s rugged, handsome face broke into a breathtaking, genuine smile. The cold, ruthless kingpin looked entirely at peace for the first time in years.
"Done," Enzo said softly. "You are the head of this household's medical staff. You have full clearance, absolute protection from my men, and whatever resources you need. No one touches you."
He reached out, his large, warm hand gently wrapping around Clara’s fingers. The physical contact sent a jolt of electricity between them, a silent promise that her heroic actions had forged a bond that extended far beyond a simple professional contract.

Sophia giggled, reaching out and grabbing both of their hands. Together, the three of them stood in the bright, warm sunlight of the high-society mansion, the dark shadow of the wheelchair finally cast aside forever.
If you were Clara, would you have risked infiltrating a ruthless mafia boss's mansion in disguise, or would you have been too terrified to try?
