Chapter 4 - The Vicious Fiancée

Clara couldn't form a single word. The towering, muscular billionaire with his dark tattoos and intense gaze was entirely too overwhelming. Without answering his question, she spun around and sprinted out of the ballroom, disappearing through the heavy velvet curtains of the servants' corridor.
"Wait!" Victor roared, immediately signaling his private security. "Find her! Bring her to my office immediately!"
Before the guards could even move, Elise stood up, smoothing down her silver evening dress. Her heart was pounding with absolute, unadulterated panic. She knew exactly who Clara was, and she knew that if Victor spoke to her, her entire life of luxury and lies would instantly evaporate.
"Victor, darling, she's just a crazy maid trying to get attention," Elise laughed nervously, grabbing his muscular arm.
Victor violently pulled his arm away, not even looking at her. "Do not touch me."
Elise’s face flushed with humiliation. While Victor marched toward the security room, Elise slipped away, taking a shortcut through the kitchen to intercept Clara before the guards could find her.
She found Clara in the locker room, frantically packing her faded coat and purse, crying hysterically.
Elise slammed the locker room door shut, locking it from the inside.
"You stupid, pathetic rat," Elise hissed, her elegant facade completely dropping, revealing the cruel monster underneath. "I told you that if you ever stepped foot near my fiancé or that brat again, I would have you thrown in prison!"
Clara backed against the lockers, trembling violently. "I didn't know it was him! I swear! I just took a temp job to pay my rent! I didn't know Victor was the one hosting the gala!"
