Chapter 9 - The Monster's Reckoning

Realizing her entire world of luxury and lies had just violently imploded, Elise’s face twisted into a mask of pure, feral desperation.
With a guttural shriek, she lunged toward Clara, her manicured claws aimed right for the maid’s eyes. "I’ll kill you! You ruined everything!"
But Victor was faster. The muscular billionaire moved with terrifying speed, stepping in front of Clara and catching Elise’s wrist in mid-air. He squeezed her arm with so much force that Elise screamed in agonizing pain, dropping to her knees on the marble floor.
"You will never touch her, or my son, ever again," Victor whispered coldly, throwing Elise’s arm away in disgust.
Victor looked at the stunned police officers. "Officers. I have a confession from my son, a fabricated death certificate, and a DNA report. Arrest this woman for grand larceny, fraud, and the kidnapping of a minor."
"Gladly, sir," the lead officer said.
They grabbed Elise, violently twisting her arms behind her back and snapping the cold steel handcuffs around her wrists.
"Victor, please! I love you! I raised him!" Elise sobbed hysterically, her elegant silver dress dragging on the floor as they hauled her away.
"You pinched him," Victor said, his voice completely devoid of mercy. "Enjoy federal prison."
As Elise’s screams faded out the front doors of the gala, the guests remained in absolute, stunned silence. Victor slowly turned around to face Clara.
