Chapter 1 - The Lonely Walk

The late afternoon sun poured through the massive windows of the Falcone estate, casting a warm, golden glow across the polished marble floors. Crystal chandeliers hung perfectly still above the grand corridor, illuminating the golden wall lights and the terrifying man walking beneath them.

Dante Falcone, the thirty-eight-year-old undisputed boss of the city's underworld, walked slowly down the enormous marble hallway. Tall, broad-shouldered, and heavily muscular, he wore an expensive fitted black suit over a partially open black dress shirt that revealed faint, lethal tattoos on his chest. His hands were clasped firmly behind his back.

Exactly seven steps behind him, tiny Sophia was secretly copying his every move.

The four-year-old girl wore a beautiful lavender floral dress, white socks, and pale shoes, her brown hair tied into two small ponytails with pink bows. When Dante straightened his broad shoulders, Sophia dramatically pushed out her tiny chest. When Dante frowned, Sophia copied the exact same exaggerated, intimidating scowl.

Several formally dressed servants standing near the walls struggled desperately not to laugh, covering their mouths in sheer panic.

Rosa, a twenty-nine-year-old quiet housemaid wearing a classic black dress with a white collar and apron, suddenly noticed her daughter from the staff doorway. Her heart dropped.

“Oh, God…” Rosa whispered in absolute terror.

Dante abruptly stopped walking. Sophia instantly froze behind him, perfectly mirroring his pose.

The entire grand corridor fell into a deathly, suffocating silence. The mafia boss slowly turned around.

Rosa rushed forward, terrified for her child's life. “Mr. Falcone, I’m so sorry—”

Dante didn't even look at Rosa. He raised one large, tattooed hand to silence her.
