Chapter 5 - The Snake in the Shadows

Victoria’s confident, arrogant face turned the color of wet ash. She saw Dante staring at the purple smear on the marble floor.

“Dante, wait!” Victoria panicked, her voice shrill and desperate. “It’s just dirt! Don't look over there!”

Dante ignored her entirely. He moved with blinding, terrifying speed. He stepped up to the heavy velvet curtains, grabbed the fabric with his massive, tattooed hand, and violently ripped them backward, tearing them completely off the golden curtain rod.

Standing pressed against the glass, sweating profusely, was Marcus.

The treacherous underboss had the infamous snake tattoo crawling up his neck. In his right hand, he held a heavy, suppressed tactical pistol. In his left hand, he clutched a small glass vial filled with a clear, lethal liquid.

Before Marcus could even raise the gun to defend himself, Dante reacted with absolute, surgical brutality.

Dante lunged forward, grabbing Marcus’s wrist and twisting it with bone-crushing force. The suppressed pistol clattered uselessly to the marble floor. Dante violently slammed his own underboss face-first into the thick window glass, pinning him by the throat.

“You brought a gun into my house,” Dante whispered, his voice vibrating with a dark, demonic promise of violence. “And you brought poison.”

The entire sitting room was absolute chaos. Rosa rushed into the room, snatching Sophia into her arms and holding the little girl protectively against her white apron.

Victoria began to hyperventilate. She realized the trap was completely exposed, and her billionaire lifestyle was violently unraveling before her eyes.
