Chapter 6 - The Strike Team

Vincent slowly pulled the phone from his pocket. He kept his face completely neutral as he looked at the glowing screen.

It was a text message from Marcus.

“Facility breached. The doctors are secured. We found her, Boss. She’s frail, but she’s safe. She’s in the armored SUV heading back to the estate now.”

A profound, crushing weight lifted off Vincent’s massive shoulders. His wife was alive. She was free.

The tactical silence was officially over. It was time for the execution.

Vincent set his bourbon glass down on the table with a sharp, heavy clack.

He reached into the inner pocket of his black vest and pulled out the thick, rubber-banded stack of thin white envelopes. He didn't say a word. He just tossed the bundle onto the glass coffee table.

They landed right next to Gianna’s wine glass.

Gianna looked down. All the color violently and instantly drained from her beautiful face. She looked as if she had just been shot in the stomach. The elegant, sophisticated mask completely shattered into pure, unadulterated terror.

"Vincent..." Gianna stammered, her hands shaking so wildly she spilled her red wine across the glass table. "What... what are those?"

"You missed a spot in the sofa lining," Vincent replied coldly.

Gianna shot up from the couch, her survival instincts kicking in. She lunged for her burner phone resting on the side table, desperately intending to call the corrupt facility to order them to silence Elena forever.
