Chapter 7 - The Cornered Snake

Before Gianna’s fingers could even brush the phone, Vincent moved with explosive, blinding speed.

He grabbed the burner phone and crushed it effortlessly in his massive hand, letting the shattered plastic drop onto the marble floor. He stepped directly into her personal space, his towering frame completely eclipsing her.

"Don't bother calling the asylum, Gianna," Vincent whispered, his voice vibrating with demonic fury. "My men just burned it to the ground. The doctors who took your bribes are currently tied to chairs in a soundproof basement."

Gianna backed away, hyperventilating, her silk robe slipping off her shoulder. "Vincent, please! Let me explain! It was the rival cartel! They forced me to do it! They threatened to kill me!"

"Stop lying!" Vincent roared, the sheer volume of his voice shaking the crystal chandeliers. "You did it because you wanted my empire! You wanted my wealth! You threw a mother in a heavily medicated cell for two years so you could sleep in her bed!"

Gianna hit the wall. She realized the sweet, manipulative lies wouldn't work anymore. Cornered and feral, her true, venomous nature finally exposed itself.

"She was weak!" Gianna shrieked hysterically, spitting the words with pure hatred. "She didn't know how to run a syndicate! I belonged by your side! I raised that brat of a daughter when Elena couldn't!"

"You don't ever speak my daughter's name," Vincent commanded softly, his eyes turning black with lethal intent.
