Chapter 3 - The Impossible Gloves

The heavy, festive atmosphere in the marble hallway was instantly incinerated.
Gabriel Moretti completely froze. All the color violently drained from his chiseled, handsome face. He stopped breathing.
To understand the absolute, unhinged shock tearing through the mafia boss’s mind, one had to look back exactly four years. Before taking over his father's violent syndicate, Gabriel had desperately tried to live a normal life. He had met a beautiful, brilliant college student named Olivia. They had fallen deeply, fiercely in love in absolute secret.
But the syndicate had discovered the romance. Gabriel’s father had explicitly threatened to have Olivia murdered if Gabriel didn't abandon her and take his rightful place as the boss. To save her life, Gabriel broke her heart. He walked away without an explanation.
Before he left, he gave her one final, parting gift. A pair of custom-made, incredibly rare white cashmere gloves, monogrammed with his family’s hidden crest. It was a secret promise that he would always love her.
He had spent four years believing she had moved on.
But now, Gabriel was staring at his secret, custom gloves resting perfectly in the hands of a three-year-old girl. A girl who looked exactly like him.
Gabriel slowly raised his dark, terrified eyes from the gloves and looked directly into Olivia’s face.
Olivia stopped crying. She stared back at him, the crushing weight of their hidden past completely shattering the silence.
Margaret, completely oblivious to the apocalyptic realization unfolding in front of her, arrogantly stepped forward again.
"I'll have security destroy her catering records immediately, sir," Margaret sneered.
A wide shot captured Gabriel slowly turning his head toward the supervisor. His shock violently morphed into a cold, demonic fury.
