Chapter 7 - The Cashmere Promise

Lily looked at the massive, terrifying man kneeling on the floor.

She didn't cry. She didn't hide. She looked at him with wide, curious eyes. She slowly uncurled her tiny fingers, holding out the pristine white cashmere gloves toward him.

"My mommy says these belong to my daddy," Lily whispered innocently.

Gabriel physically gasped. Tears of pure, unadulterated joy instantly flooded his dark eyes. He didn't take the gloves. He gently wrapped his massive, heavily tattooed hands around Lily's tiny fingers, holding them with a fierce, unbreakable protection.

"Your mommy is right," Gabriel choked out, weeping openly in the middle of his own hallway, completely abandoning his ruthless persona. "I'm your daddy. And I am never, ever leaving you again."

Without a single microsecond of hesitation, Lily threw her small arms around Gabriel's neck, hugging the massive mafia boss tightly. Gabriel buried his face in her shoulder, holding her as if she were the most precious, fragile thing in the entire world.

Olivia watched them, completely overwhelmed by profound, heavy relief. The man she loved wasn't a monster. He was a fiercely loyal protector who had been trapped by his own family.

Gabriel finally let go of Lily and looked directly at Olivia.

He didn't just rule his empire with cold, bitter isolation anymore. He had a profound, brilliant reason to build a safer, more secure future for his family.
