Chapter 4 - The Supervisor's Greed

"Sir?" Margaret stammered, physically staggering backward as the temperature in the hallway instantly dropped ten degrees.
Gabriel didn't yell. The terrifying silence radiating from his massive frame was infinitely worse.
"You said her name disappeared from the payroll," Gabriel whispered smoothly, stepping toward the corrupt supervisor. "But you didn't fire her when she arrived with the child, Margaret. You let her work a grueling fourteen-hour shift serving my guests. And then, you erased her name right before she could collect her wages."
Margaret’s face turned completely, violently pale.
To understand Margaret's sheer, unadulterated panic, one had to understand her toxic side hustle. Margaret ran the catering agency. For the past two years, she had been systematically erasing temporary workers from the final payroll after their shifts were completed. She would then pocket their wages, funneling thousands of stolen dollars into her own personal bank account.
She targeted vulnerable, desperate women like Olivia because she knew they didn't have the money or the power to fight back.
Gabriel didn't just guess her scheme; he deduced it in three seconds.
"You steal from the single mothers working in my house," Gabriel stated clinically, entirely devoid of human mercy.
"No! Mr. Moretti, I swear!" Margaret panicked, desperately clutching her gold pocket watch. "It was just a glitch in the software! I can write her a check right now! From my own purse!"
Gabriel looked at her with pure, unfiltered disgust.
"You don't have a purse anymore," Gabriel replied coldly.
