Chapter 10 - The True Heiress

Julian didn't stand over her. He completely ignored his tailored, expensive suit as he dropped to one knee right in front of Sarah.

He gently took the heavy silver tray from her trembling hands and set it on the floor. Then, he gently held her scarred, branded arm with absolute, profound reverence.

"I am so incredibly sorry," Julian whispered, genuine tears filling his dark, intense eyes. "I promised I would protect you, and I let that monster torture you for fifteen years. I will spend the rest of my life making this right."

Sarah let out a beautiful, ragged sob, falling to her knees right in front of him. "You found me. You really found me."

Julian pulled her into a fierce, unbreakable embrace, holding the woman he had never stopped searching for.

Little Bella hopped down from her dining chair. The five-year-old girl, wearing her pink lace dress, trotted over and wrapped her small arms tightly around Sarah’s neck, hugging her with pure, innocent love.

"You don't have to wear the uniform anymore," Bella smiled sweetly.

In the weeks that followed, Monica was sentenced to twenty years in federal prison for fraud and extortion, completely abandoned by everyone she had ever lied to.

Sarah never carried a tray again. Julian moved her into his sprawling, heavily guarded estate, showering her with the love, wealth, and absolute safety she had always deserved. The dark, traumatic years of poverty finally faded, replaced by the warmth of a real family. And as Sarah walked through the gardens holding Bella’s hand, with Julian watching them lovingly from the balcony, she knew she was finally, truly home.

Do you think a twenty-year prison sentence was enough justice for Monica, or did the cruel sister deserve to be handled by the syndicate?
