Margaret was charged with conspiracy, identity theft, elder financial abuse, and mortgage fraud.
She insisted she was a mother trying to keep a family together.
Her attorney described Paige as cold and controlling.
The prosecution played phone recordings.
Margaret telling Eric:
“Use Paige’s signature. She’ll pay when she sees the notice.”
Another:
“Your sister likes being needed.”
And:
“If Robert asks, tell him Paige approved.”
Margaret heard her own voice.
She did not look ashamed.
She looked misunderstood.
