Chapter 5 - The Eviction Threat

Two uniformed police officers strode into the grand dining room, their hands resting cautiously on their duty belts. They took one look at the screaming child on the stretcher and immediately separated the adults.

"What happened here?" the lead officer demanded.

Brenda immediately stepped in front of Chloe, turning on the fake tears with terrifying precision.

"Officer, thank God you're here," Brenda cried, clutching her red dress. "My sister Valerie is incredibly unstable. She's been demanding money from our father all morning. When he refused, she completely lost her mind and shoved poor Toby to the floor! My daughter tried to stop her, but it was too late!"

The grandfather nodded solemnly. "It breaks my heart to admit it, but my eldest daughter is telling the truth. Valerie is a danger to that boy."

The officer frowned, turning his stern gaze toward Valerie.

Valerie didn't panic. She didn't scream that they were lying. She stayed perfectly calm, holding Toby’s uninjured hand as the paramedics loaded him onto the stretcher.

"Valerie," Brenda sneered quietly, stepping close so the cops couldn't hear. "When they take you away, I'm personally throwing your cheap clothes onto the street. You are evicted. You will never step foot in this multi-million-dollar mansion ever again."

Valerie looked at her sister. A cold, calculating smile slowly spread across her delicate face.
