Chapter 9 - The True Owner

"That's impossible!" Brenda shrieked hysterically, clawing at her own red dress. "She wears cheap clothes! She drives a minivan! She's a nobody!"

"I wore cheap clothes because I wanted to see if my family could love me without my money," Valerie corrected softly, her voice a cold, lethal blade. "I let you live in my house. I let you pretend you were still billionaires. I gave you every single opportunity to be decent human beings."

The grandfather dropped to his knees on the concrete driveway, clutching his chest as he realized his entire arrogant lifestyle was a complete, carefully orchestrated illusion.

"But you aren't decent," Valerie whispered, her eyes pitch black, devoid of any mercy. "You are monsters. And you hurt my son."

Valerie looked at her lawyer.

"Mr. Sterling," Valerie commanded. "Initiate the absolute liquidation. Cancel their credit cards. Freeze their bank accounts. And execute the eviction notice immediately. They have ten minutes to vacate my property."

"No! Valerie, please!" the grandfather wept wildly, completely abandoning his pride as he crawled toward her shoes. "We're your family! You can't leave us with nothing! I'm an old man!"

"You're a trespasser," Valerie replied smoothly, completely immune to his pathetic, fake tears.

Brenda lunged forward, trying to attack Valerie in a fit of feral rage, but two of Valerie’s private security guards—men the family thought worked for the grandfather—instantly tackled Brenda to the ground, pinning her against the concrete.
