Chapter 6 - The Hidden Cameras
The police officer pulled out his notepad, looking at Valerie with heavy suspicion.
"Ma'am, your family is accusing you of child abuse," the officer stated firmly. "I'm going to need you to step away from the boy and come with me to the station."
"I'm going to the hospital with my son," Valerie replied smoothly, completely unbothered by his authority. She reached into the pocket of her burgundy trousers and pulled out her smartphone. "And you aren't arresting me. You're arresting the woman in the yellow dress."
"We have three witnesses who say otherwise," the officer warned.
"And I have a 4K security camera with audio built directly into that crystal chandelier," Valerie corrected, pointing to the massive, glittering fixture hanging directly above the dining table.
The entire family froze. The color violently drained from the grandfather's face.
"What?" Brenda gasped, her heart completely stopping.
Valerie tapped her screen and turned the phone around for the police officers to see. The crystal-clear video played loudly in the silent room. It showed Chloe viciously grabbing Toby, screaming at him, and violently throwing the seventy-pound child onto the hard marble floor. It clearly recorded the horrific snap of his bone, and Brenda's subsequent demand to cover it up with a bribe.
The lead officer's face darkened with absolute fury.

He didn't ask any more questions. He unclipped his handcuffs and marched directly toward Chloe.
