Chapter 6 - The Hidden Truth

Three days later, the storm outside had cleared, leaving the massive Chicago estate bathed in pale morning sunlight.

In the high-security executive office of the West Wing, Adrien sat behind his heavy mahogany desk, staring intensely at a confidential dossier spread open before him. The file contained hospital birth records, DNA testing kits, and a series of covert photographs that his top private investigator had just handed over.

Sitting across from him, trembling in a hard wooden chair, was the maid mother, Clara.

"You lied on your employment application, Clara," Adrien said, his voice dropping into a dangerous, chilling register that made the air in the room turn to ice. "You listed yourself as an orphan from out of state. But according to these records, your real name is Clara Moretti. And the child running through my hallways... is my blood."

Clara burst into silent, desperate tears, burying her face in her hands. "I had to hide, Adrien! Five years ago, when your enemies tried to assassinate you, they targeted everyone close to you. I was pregnant with your child, and your own capos told me that carrying your baby was a death sentence. I faked my death, changed my name, and took shelter as a maid just to keep our daughter breathing under your roof!"

Adrien stood up so violently that his heavy leather chair crashed backward against the cedar wood paneling.

His breathing was ragged. He had spent five agonizing years believing he was completely alone in the world, believing his enemies had stripped away every piece of his humanity. And all that time, his own flesh and blood had been sleeping just three floors away.

👉 Adrien’s fury toward the syndicate traitors who forced her into hiding was absolute, and he was ready to burn the city to the ground to protect them.
