Chapter 3 - The Treacherous Date

Sitting directly across the table from Roman was Celeste.

She was a breathtakingly beautiful woman in her thirties, wearing a stunning midnight-blue evening gown and heavy diamond earrings. Her pale gold hair was styled perfectly. She was Roman’s date for the evening, a woman he had been seeing exclusively for the last two months.

Celeste was smiling, feigning the role of a relaxed, loving partner. But beneath the table, completely out of Roman’s line of sight, she was secretly, absolutely terrified.

Her manicured fingers were trembling violently as she tapped a specific, rhythmic code against her own leg.

She wasn't just nervous. Celeste was a highly embedded traitor. She had been paid three million dollars by a rival cartel to bring Roman to this exact restaurant, sit him at this exact table, and signal the assassins when his private security team was distracted.

Celeste took a slow sip of her expensive wine, trying to mask her panic.

She looked at Roman, assuming the powerful crime lord was completely oblivious to the trap closing in around him.
