Chapter 8 - The True Loyalty

Tessa was standing near the dish pit, shaking violently, terrified that she was about to be caught in a massive shootout.
The heavy kitchen doors swung open, and the towering crime lord stepped inside. The entire kitchen staff froze in absolute terror.
Roman completely bypassed the arrogance of his immense wealth and power. He didn't look at Tessa like a servant. He looked at her with profound, unshakeable respect.
"You saved my life tonight, Tessa," Roman stated smoothly, his deep voice carrying a fiercely protective warmth.
Tessa swallowed hard, nodding slowly. "I just... I didn't want anyone to get hurt."
Roman reached into his suit jacket. He didn't pull out a gun. He pulled out a heavy, laser-engraved titanium card and handed it directly to her.
"This is a fully funded, multi-million-dollar trust account," Roman promised quietly, a fierce, unbreakable vow. "It covers your entire life, a new home, and absolute, permanent protection from my organization. Nobody in this city will ever touch you."
Tessa gasped, tears of pure, overwhelming joy and disbelief welling in her eyes. She had been drowning in debt, terrified of her future. Now, she was completely, permanently secure.
In the months that followed, Roman violently purged his syndicate, removing his treacherous brother and solidifying his absolute control over the city.
