Chapter 10 - The True Christmas

In the months that followed, the poison completely left Renata’s system. Without Carmen’s toxic interference, the little girl rapidly regained her strength. Her hair began to grow back in beautiful, thick brown curls, and her innocent, bright energy returned entirely.

Carmen was sentenced to life in a maximum-security federal penitentiary without the possibility of parole, completely stripped of her stolen wealth and abandoned by everyone she knew.

A year later, the open-concept kitchen and dining room was beautifully decorated for Christmas once again. But this time, the atmosphere was filled with genuine love, loud laughter, and absolute safety.

Mauricio stood in the kitchen, wearing a comfortable sweater, smiling warmly as he watched Renata run around the marble island. She was wearing a stunning red holiday dress, her curly hair bouncing as she played with her new toys.

Maria, wearing an elegant dress instead of a maid's uniform, was laughing and helping set the table as an honored guest.

The nightmare was completely over. Mauricio looked at his healthy, happy daughter, his heart swelling with an overwhelming, unshakeable peace. He realized that true wealth wasn't found in trust funds or real estate—it was found in the brave, observant eyes of the little girl who had saved both of their lives.

Do you think life in prison was enough justice for Carmen, or did the cruel grandmother deserve a harsher punishment for poisoning a child?
