Chapter 2 - The Desperate Lie

The cinematic realism of the suffocating, paralyzing tension completely electrified the grand hallway.

Damian didn't scream. He didn't throw the medicine bottle. His quietness was infinitely more terrifying. He stared at the maid with the cold, calculating eyes of an apex predator who had just discovered a snake in his home.

"Mr. Damian, please!" Alina stammered frantically, physically staggering backward as her crisp white apron wrinkled. "It must be a mistake by the pharmacy! They must have changed the manufacturer! I just brought the bottle up from the receiving room!"

Alina lunged forward, desperately reaching out to snatch the amber bottle from his hand to hide the evidence.

With blinding, terrifying speed, Damian’s hand clamped down on her wrist like a titanium vice. He stopped her completely in her tracks. He squeezed her wrist just hard enough to make her gasp in pain, forcing her to look him directly in the eyes.

"Do not insult my intelligence in my own home, Alina," Damian whispered, his deep voice radiating absolute, demonic fury.

He gently let go of her wrist and knelt down to Sophia's eye level. He handed the tiny, brave girl over to Marcus.

"Take Sophia to the gardens," Damian commanded smoothly, ensuring his daughter was completely safe from the horrific truth about to unfold.

Marcus nodded, gently scooping the child up and walking away.

👉 Damian turned back to the trembling maid, preparing to rip her toxic web of lies completely to shreds.
