Chapter 5 - The Hidden Stash

"I didn't mean to!" Alina wailed hysterically, violently thrashing on the floor as two massive security guards marched into the hallway and grabbed her by the arms. "I was just following orders! He told me it would just make her sleep!"
"Search her quarters," Damian commanded flawlessly, completely ignoring the weeping monster at his feet. "Tear it down to the studs. Find everything."
Ten minutes later, Marcus returned to the grand hallway carrying a heavy, steel lockbox. He had found it hidden beneath a loose floorboard under Alina’s bed in the staff quarters.
Marcus aggressively smashed the lock open with a heavy tactical baton, dumping the contents directly onto the polished marble table.
Dozens of empty amber prescription bottles spilled out. But it wasn't just the stolen medication. Stashed alongside the toxic white pills were four thick, heavy stacks of hundred-dollar bills, totaling exactly one hundred thousand dollars in banded cash.
Alina wasn't a disgruntled employee acting out of jealousy. She was a highly paid, deeply embedded corporate assassin.
But the most damning piece of evidence was a cheap, prepaid burner phone resting at the bottom of the steel box. Damian reached out and picked up the phone. It was unlocked.
