Chapter 10 - The Empire Reclaimed

"You sold me yesterday," Tess replied coldly, staring at the pathetic, weeping monster on the floor. "Today, I'm just collecting the receipt."

Four heavily armed federal agents marched directly into the penthouse. They bypassed the terrified lawyers and aggressively grabbed Arthur by the arms. The heavy steel handcuffs snapped loudly around his wrists, completely stripping him of his freedom, his fake wealth, and his high-society pride.

Arthur screamed and cried in total, undeniable disgrace as he was forcefully dragged backward out of the penthouse, permanently erased from the empire he had stolen.

The toxic, arrogant energy was entirely dragged out of the room.

The heavy mahogany doors slammed shut. Tess stood up from the executive chair. The crushing weight of the last ten years was completely, permanently lifted from her shoulders. She wasn't a victim, and she wasn't a piece of collateral. She was the absolute, undisputed owner of a multi-million-dollar empire.

Roman looked at her, his dark eyes radiating profound respect and undeniable pride. He had kept his promise to her mother. He had burned the villain to the ground and secured Tess's future.

"What happens now?" Tess asked softly, looking at the handsome billionaire who had saved her life.

"Now," Roman smiled, a genuine, breathtaking warmth breaking through his terrifying persona, "we build your empire."

Tess walked over to the floor-to-ceiling windows, looking out at the bright city skyline. She had survived the absolute worst betrayal imaginable, defeated the monster in her own family, and emerged completely, undeniably victorious.
