Chapter 8 - The True Protection

Maya was still sitting on the polished marble floor, trembling violently. She was absolutely terrified that the Boss was going to fire her, or worse, for bringing so much violent chaos into his home.
The Boss completely bypassed the arrogance of his immense wealth and terrifying power.
He didn't look at her like a maid. He didn't order her to clean up the scuff marks on the floor.
He gently knelt down on the marble tile, bringing himself perfectly to her eye level. He reached into his suit jacket and pulled out a clean, expensive silk handkerchief, offering it to her with profound, earth-shattering respect.
"You don't clean this house anymore, Maya," the Boss stated smoothly, his deep voice carrying a fiercely protective warmth.
Maya gasped, tears of pure terror welling in her eyes. "Please, sir, I need this job to feed Lily!"
"You aren't fired," the Boss corrected quietly, gently resting his hand on her shoulder. "I am promoting you to Executive Estate Manager. I am tripling your salary, and I am moving you and Lily out of the staff quarters and into the west wing guest suite. You are permanently under the protection of this family."
