Chapter 6 - The Secret Syndicate

The black town car pulled up to a massive, heavily fortified glass skyscraper in the heart of downtown Seattle.

Claire was escorted directly to the top-floor executive boardroom. Sitting around the massive glass table were five of the most powerful, dangerous men in the Pacific Northwest. They weren't just businessmen; they were the heads of the Seattle Syndicate.

Her father hadn't just been an accountant. He had been the master financial architect for the entire West Coast underground, a man who had successfully hidden billions of dollars for these bosses, keeping them out of federal prison for three decades.

The men stood up respectfully as Claire entered the room.

"Your father was a legend," the eldest boss said, his voice thick with genuine reverence. "He asked us for one final favor before he passed. He asked us to shield you from Chicago."

Claire gently placed her father's urn on a side table. She looked at the powerful men, completely unafraid.

"I don't just want a shield," Claire stated, her voice steady, confident, and echoing with cinematic realism. "I want absolute, impenetrable freedom. I want Ethan Blackwood to know that if he ever tries to force me back to Chicago, he will lose his entire empire."

The bosses smiled, recognizing the quiet, lethal intelligence of her father burning in her eyes.
